THE BEGINNING - The Baby’s Room is a baby boutique located in the heart of Wellington. The Baby’s Room’s aim is to provide quality baby and toddler goods at a convenient location within the central business district. We wanted parents, grandparents, friends, family and business people to have access to superior quality baby clothing and toys, in a friendly environment.
OWN BRAND - The owners worked with a small number of business partners to create 'The Baby’s Room', and the flagship store was opened in April 2008, on Lambton Quay, Wellington. The store focuses on high quality clothing and unique wooden toys for ages up to five. In November 2008, The Baby’s Room launched its own-brand t-shirts, sleepsuits and singlets, and in winter 2009 a range of colourful New Zealand made merino clothing in size 0–3 to 6-12 months.
OUR PEOPLE - Staff are well trained in suggesting ideas for baby showers, newborn or first birthday gifts, and a wide range of conveniently pre-packaged gift baskets are available in-store, over the phone or online, with delivery available nationally or internationally.
WEB - In September 2009 The Baby’s Room e-commerce website was launched, allowing people the convenience to shop from their desk around the world.
SUSTAINABILITY - The Baby’s Room recognises its place within the community, with programs such as profits from its handknitted goods going directly to the Neonatal Trust, and an option to offset your carbon footprint from disposable nappies by purchasing carbon credits from the store. In most cases the Baby’s Room own-brand products are manufactured in New Zealand.
AWARDS - The Baby’s Room has already been recognised, winning a Top Shop Award for Innovation Excellence in Retail in October 2008, only six months after opening. The Baby’s Room was up against 91 other entrants in Wellington. The Baby's Room was also a finalist in the 2010 Wellington Gold Awards.
